Sometimes after not using the heater for awhile it can cause the fuel line to get an air bubble in it, as a Grit owner, we recommend that you follow Elwell’s instructions on running the Heater at least once a month on high for about 15 minutes, this will keep this issue form happening. We also recommend that if you are having constant issues with the fuel supply to your Timberline Combustion unit and keep get reoccurring (Code 13) often, Elwell has a Replacement hard stem fuel line, that can be installed into the vans fuel tank. This helps keep the fuel line primmed.
5 Steps to take first to identify if the van heater needs extra work of if this is fuel related.
After the van Heater sends a code (Example Code 13)
1.Go to the fuse panel on the face of the electrical box located in rear passenger box of most models.
2.Pull the 25 amp Heater Combustion Fuse and Pull the 10 amp Heater Fan Fuse
3.Verify there is no power to the screen,
4.Replace the fuses and then Turn on the heater on High (90 Degrees)
5.Repeat this process until to 4 times, and if the unit keeps sending a code, the issue may be deeper then just the fuel supply.
**You have to pull fuses between each attempt**
If you don’t pull the fuses the heater will not try and pump fuel to your system, it will stay in a limbo state, designed to protect the fuel pump from any damages.
**Important to note**
-FUEL SHOULDN’T be near or bellow 1/4 tank, when re-priming the fuel lines having a full tank of fuel is recommended.
-Turn off the vehicle during process, we don’t want the ignition from the vehicle on because, elwells alternate power source is form a connection point on the side of the driver seat and this will keep the brain on.
Common Codes:
Code 13: Fuel system failed to ignite ( Most common, lack of fuel supply) Solution is to add fuel and try again.
Code 14: Fuel Pump failed, Need a replacement pump
